Weasel

“Royal Ermine”

1995 - 2023

Breed: Arabian-Percheron-quarter horse mix

Height: 15.3

Gender: gelding

Their Story: Weasel was our resident Unicorn. He was with us since 2008. Prior to this he had been a pack horse in Canada and a lesson horse in California. We lost our resident unicorn in June of 2023.

Known and loved by many, Weasel was the one who raised our feedlot rescue yearlings and foals and gave them an excellent foundation. Being the alpha and living in a herd, he was able to instill in them a sense of peace and give them manners which is very crucial in young horses. Weasel was unusually wise, calm and generous and his behavior towards humans was a great example to follow for our inexperienced and untrained rescues. Following his passing, we watched the herd grieve for many weeks, strengthening our belief that horses feel like we feel and that we share so many emotions. It is his incredible personality and gifts as a healer that inspired me to rescue horses and train them so they could pursue his legacy.

We miss Weasel dearly but find solace in knowing he had the best retirement a horse could wish for and that he felt much love from his equine friends and humans alike.
