Volunteer With Us!
Having 14 horses to take care of means there is always something to do.
We focus on two areas: the horses’ well being and the cleanliness and maintenance of the facility.
This means we need help for the following :
Clean stalls, paddocks, and dirt lots.
Refill /clean water troughs.
Sweep the barn and periodically get rid of cobwebs in the barn and covered arena.
Brushing horses (they love to roll in mud in the winter)
Hand walking horses.
Hand walking minis.
Weeding: we do not spray our pasture so we manually remove invasive tansy which is toxic to horses. We especially need help in the spring and summer for this task to keep our horses & minis safe.
Maintaining our flower planted half barrels. We have a lot of zinnias and dahlias that we grow for our big flower project which is delivering flowers to the elderly via our miniature horses. These need consistent watering throughout the summer months.
We are currently looking for volunteer help for different types of work for the horses, around the property, and special events.
Important Information
Children under the age of 16 need to be accompanied by an adult.
You will be asked to sign a waiver as well as a copy of the barn rules.
Before working with horses, all volunteers have to go through training, we are horses advocates and want to make sure our volunteers do communicate clearly with our equines and handle them in a way that is safe and respectful. This will create more harmonious relationships between humans and horses and will ensure our equines continue to fully enjoy interactions with humans (which they currently do).
